Privacy policy
Your privacy matters. Here’s how I handle your information.
Last updated: 27 October 2026
This website belongs to me, Tom Rigby, a freelance copywriter based in the UK. I’m responsible for any personal information you share through it. This page explains what I collect, why I collect it and what you can do about it.
If you have any questions, email me at info@tomrigby.com.
When you contact me
If you use the contact form, I receive your name, email address, phone number (if you give it) and your message. The form sends these to me by email. If you email me directly, I receive whatever you include.
I use this information only to reply to you, to discuss and quote for your project and, if we work together, to run the job and invoice for it. I never sell it, never add you to a mailing list and never pass it to anyone else for marketing.
Website statistics
I use Google Analytics to see how people use this site: which pages are read most, how visitors find the site and what devices they use. It helps me improve the site. It doesn’t tell me who you are.
Google Analytics stores two small files, called cookies, in your browser: _ga and _ga_6Z19QBCY49. They let Google recognise repeat visits, and they last for up to two years. Google processes this information on my behalf, and may do so outside the UK under its own safeguards. You can read how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
These are the only cookies this site sets for visitors. There are no advertising cookies and no social media tracking.
How to opt out
You can stop Google Analytics from counting your visits in either of these ways. The site works just the same.
- Block or delete cookies in your browser’s settings.
- Install Google’s Analytics opt-out add-on.
Why I’m allowed to use your information
UK data protection law requires a reason for using personal information. Mine are:
- Legitimate interests: replying to your enquiry and understanding how my website is used.
- Contract: carrying out work we’ve agreed.
- Legal obligation: keeping business and tax records.
How long I keep it
If we work together, I keep our correspondence and invoices for six years after the work ends, because HMRC requires business records to be kept for that long. Enquiries that don’t lead to work are deleted within two years.
Where it’s stored
This website and my email are hosted by Hostinger. Everything you send through the site travels over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection.
Your rights
You can ask me to:
- show you the personal information I hold about you;
- correct it;
- delete it;
- stop using it, or limit how I use it;
- give you a copy in a format you can reuse.
Email info@tomrigby.com and I’ll respond within one month.
If you’re unhappy with how I’ve handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office. I’d appreciate the chance to put things right first.

Changes to this policy
If I change how I handle personal information, I’ll update this page and the date at the top.
