Why me?
In copywriting, experience matters.
On their own, words don’t know any better. In the right hands, they start conversations, build brands, shape opinions, change minds and inspire action.
I bring decades of experience, knowledge, imagination and judgement to every project. I write words that don’t just fill space – they make things happen.
Here are 12 reasons why businesses and brands choose me.
Almost a thousand brands. And counting.
I’ve created concepts and copy for almost a thousand businesses and brands – from start-ups to multinational corporations on every continent.
I make it my business to understand yours.
Industrial pipelines, private jets, diarrhoea tablets, luxury property, equine yoga and cybersecurity. Whatever the subject, I do the research, ask the questions and find what matters to your audience.
Even agencies sometimes need help.
I’ve collaborated with over 50 design, marketing, branding and advertising agencies. Several still turn to me when they need an experienced copywriter who can take a brief and get on with it.
Thirty years and still not lost for words.
I’m not a moonlighting journalist, failed poet or frustrated novelist. I’ve been a professional copywriter for 30 years. Words are what pay my bills.
Flexible by design.
Bring me in to develop the idea, write from scratch or help meet a pressing deadline. I can join at any stage, work alongside your team and step back when the job’s done.
You’re paying for my judgement. I’ll use it.
I won’t simply tell you what you want to hear. If an idea needs questioning or an approach could work harder, I’ll say so. Agreeing with everything isn’t much of a service.
Recommended, again and again.
More than 70% of my work comes from word of mouth, repeat business and agency referrals. I must be doing something right.
Your business gets the attention. I get on with it.
It’s my job to make you look good. I’m approachable, collaborative and easy to work with. No ego. It’s your name on the finished work, and I’m happy with that.
My overheads don’t need a reception desk.
I’m cheaper than an agency and cost less than most senior freelance copywriters. You pay for the words, not for plush offices, a luxury car or a limitless expense account.
Nothing lost in translation.
There’s no account manager or junior copywriter. I take the brief, do the research, write the copy, answer the phone and make the tea.
I get the story from every level.
I’m as comfortable talking to an engineer on the factory floor as to a CEO in the boardroom. Every voice helps shape the story.
The writing might surprise you. The invoice won’t.
Wherever possible, I quote a fixed fee upfront which includes reasonable revisions within the agreed scope. So, when it comes to settling my invoice, you know exactly how much you’re going to pay.
